Repost from another blogger… very relevant to the focus here. If Jesus isn’t at the wheel, I don’t want to be riding that bus.
As usual with your posts – even when referring us to someone else’s thought – the Light shined brightly. I am so guilty of getting inordinately involved in political thought. Thinking I am above it all, because I don’t outwardly take sides, yet inwardly, I sometimes judge my Christian brothers and sisters who don’t agree with me. Standing in the Light, I see how wrong this is. Not that we shouldn’t be responsible for how we vote, but, as he says, we should present our ideas with love and respect for others. Without clamor or slander. Remembering His body, and the family of God are a crucial part of our hope (“and hope doesn’t disappoint!!!)
Jan, I am guilty of everything you describe here too. I feel a heavy burden to call Christians to look to Christ and not their country or politicians or parties as their identity. I see a huge similarity between the mindset of the cults I came out of, and the one that combines Christianity and the kingdoms of this world. They are so closely intertwined now that many cannot separate out the two in their minds. The time is coming though I believe when we will not be able to follow two masters, and the choice will be clear. Jesus is calling us out.
